ZixDirect is a secure email messaging product from ZixCorp. The company sending you the message uses ZixDirect to send you the secure email messages.
The messages are sent to you using state-of-the-art encryption technology that requires the password you define to decrypt the message. Once you receive the message, the message stays encrypted except when you are reading the message. After you read the message, all traces of the decrypted version of the message are destroyed.
Firefox monitors the amount of time it allows a script to run. By default, this is set to five seconds. Because ZixDirect is encoding and decoding the message, the script often runs longer than this and you get the error message. You can click Continue every time if you do not get a lot of ZixDirect messages. If you prefer, you can change the default amount of time that Firefox allows a script to run.
To set
the script timeout period in Firefox
Enter about:config in the address bar of Firefox.
Enter dom.max_script_run_time in the Filter bar.
Double click dom.max_script_run_time to edit this value.
Enter a longer time out time (for example, 20).
Click OK.
When you open a message, it is decrypted before it can be shown to you. A large message is going to take a long time, sometimes several minutes, to decrypt.

One of two problems may exist with your Java Runtime Environment (JRE) installation.
You do not have version 1.4.2 or higher of the JRE installed on your computer. To update your version of Java:
Go to www.java.com and click at the top of the page, then follow the instructions to download the latest version of the JRE.
You have more than one version of Java installed on your computer.
If
you are sure you do not use the older version of the JRE, uninstall it.
Warning: If you are unsure about your needs for the older
copy, call your internal Support Department before uninstalling this application.
If you must keep the older version of the JRE to run specific applications, install a second copy of the JRE, version 5.0 or higher. To do so, go to www.java.com and click at the top of the page, then follow the instructions.
If none of the items above allow you to read attachments using ZixDirect, contact the organization that sent you the email and have them contact ZixCorp Support by email at support@zixcorp.com or by phone at (888) 576-4949.
This error may be an indication that you have an older version of Java in which an Invocation API is being used to launch a particular application. Contact the organization that sent you the email or your internal Support Department and have them contact ZixCorp Support.

No. The organization that sends you secure email messages has the option of letting you pre-register before you receive your first secure email message. If the organization does not tell you how to pre-register, you can register when you receive your first secure email message.
Recipients of ZixDirect messages may receive up to 60 MB of text and attachments. A ZixDirect mail may contain multiple attachments, however, individual attachment files must not exceed 15 MB. Whether or not you can receive the message depends on your email server. Some email servers limit the amount of storage space each user can use. If your email server does not allow much space for the user or you are using most of the space allocated for you, you may not be able to receive large attachments.
You can send a maximum message size of 15 MB. Large files can take a long time to encrypt and send. You may consider limiting the size of your attachments to fewer than 5 MB.
ZixDirect calculates the total size of the message to ensure that you do exceed the maximum message size. When you add an additional attachment, this calculation is done for the message and all of the attachments. This can be time consuming, especially if you have one or more large (> 1MB) attachments.
You can combine your multiple files into a single ZIP file and attach the ZIP file to the message to improve performance. ZixDirect only needs to calculate the total size of the message once using this method.
If you are using Outlook, check your Junk folder in your mailbox. Outlook sometimes puts a ZixDirect message in the Junk folder. If the message is in the Junk folder, move the message back to your inbox. Other PC security products may place ZixDirect messages into the Junk or a special folder instead of the default Inbox.
