Inbound and Outbound SASL Support

Required, Defaulted

The SASL option defaults to No in ZixGateway Manager. If you choose to use SASL, you must also refer to SASL Support for additional configuration requirements.

Any email coming into your ZixGateway from any source is considered inbound. Selecting the Enable Inbound SASL Support option defines the ZixGateway appliance as a SASL server. This requires any email received from other servers to be SASL authenticated, with no distinction between inbound servers.

Any email leaving your ZixGateway for any destination, whether a mail server or Internet gateway, is considered outbound. Outbound SASL is required only if the destination server is a SASL server requiring SASL authentication. The ZixGateway outbound configuration is defined by destination. Therefore, unlike inbound SASL authentication, outbound SASL authentication can be selective.

Refer to SASL Support for configuration requirements.
