Imagine that you have sent email invitations to your customers asking them to attend a Webcast on the NextBigThing. If you knew which customers opened your email but have not yet confirmed their attendance with an RSVP, you would know whom to follow up with. Using an encryption policy that requests a Return Receipt will give you that information.

The three types of Return Receipts are Certified Receipt, Delivery Receipt, and Pickup Receipt. The table below shows the type of receipt that ZixGateway generates under various conditions.

Note: You should take care to set Return Receipt policies that are narrow or have been agreed upon by end-user groups. Otherwise, unsuspecting ZixGateway end-users may receive volumes of Return Receipts that are not meaningful to them. The number of Return Receipts requested, received, and outstanding is available in the statistics report.
The Request Receipt column indicates Yes or No for whether a receipt has been requested for each policy in the cluster.
