A content policy is a very simple, but useful, ZixGateway policy. You can cause a log record to be written to the content logging channel whenever a message matches (or does not match) the content policy’s pattern. This content logging facility is a syslog channel set up in the Configure Server > Content Logging Parameters section.
Content policies are used to test encryption, branding and routing policies before you deploy them to make sure that they are producing the results you want. The content logging facility captures the policy’s Label information and the email’s From, To, and Subject, but not the actual content of the messages. content policies are data-gathering tools, not surveillance tools.
ZixGateway Inbound customers should set up a Log policy to view the details of policy violations from inbound email communication. See Inbound HIPAA Log Policy for specific information.
For information on viewing the results of your audit/log policies, see Viewing Content Results.
Audit and Log create persistent, reviewable, time-stamped and detailed entries when the pattern does not/does match the message contents (any combination of Subject, Body, and Attachments).
