ZixGateway ships with a set of default policies for encryption: Default Policy, Default Encrypt & Send Policy, Default Send Unencrypted Policy and Default ZixDirect Reply/Forward Policy.
Note: Depending on when you first installed and configured ZixGateway, your policies may have the following names:
The Encrypt & Send and Send Unencrypted policies are invoked if end users have installed the ZixSelect Encrypt & Send and ZixSelect Send Unencrypted buttons on their Microsoft Outlook® toolbar or a user sets their email message sensitivity to Confidential in Microsoft Outlook 2003, 2007 or 2010. The Sensitivity field is an option Microsoft Outlook users can set for each email message they send that triggers the Encrypt & Send policy in ZixGateway.
The buttons give users the ability to make their own decisions about when email messages should or should not be sent encrypted. The default encryption policies define the patterns for sending messages when end users select the Send button, the ZixSelect Encrypt & Send button, or the ZixSelect Send Unencrypted button, and no other policies match.
The administrator can define more specific policies than the default policies:
