Creating Content Patterns

The content pattern defines which messages the policy is applied to.  To understand content patterns, you need to be familiar with the vocabulary.

Field Definition
Content Pattern The set of glossary entries applied to the Subject, Body, or Attachments of a message. If more than one glossary entry is applied, the content pattern is composed of all applied entries joined by AND or OR.
Glossary Entry The highest-level vocabulary with which you build content patterns. It is referred to by label (name) in the glossary.
Term A component of a glossary entry. It can be a string expression, a reference to a lexicon of terms, or a reference to an existing glossary term. Terms can be combined using AND or OR, or negated using NOT.
Expression A fragment of text to match to the text of a message.
Lexicon A reference to a file containing a pre-defined collection of string expressions organized into hierarchical categories.
Existing Entry a reference by label/name to a previously defined Glossary entry. Having the ability to use an existing entry as a term allows you to extend a Glossary entry with other terms, creating a new, more specific Glossary entry.
