Setting Preferences
You can set Message, Password and Expiration preferences to make ZixMail more convenient
for you to use.
- While on the
tab, select Options > Preferences. The Preferences screen displays.
Messages
- Select the Clear
Compose View after Successful Sending check box to remove a sent
message from the Compose page after you send it. Otherwise, the message
remains visible.
- Select Automatically
Add Addresses to Address Book to have a ZixMail sender's email
address automatically added to your Address Book when you open the message.
You will be prompted to provide a Name
for the email address. You can also add
the contact manually.
Passwords
- Select Remember
Password(s) and ZixMail remembers your Signature Phrase (Password)
when sending and reading multiple ZixMail messages. When you clear the
check box, you must enter your password for each message.
Warning: Secure your desktop when using this feature. Anyone
using your PC at this time can open and send signed ZixMail messages on
your behalf.
- Select Expire
Remembered Passwords to set the amount of time ZixMail remembers
your Signature Phrase, and then type the number of minutes
until expiration, from 1-999 minutes. When you clear the check
box, there is no set time for remembering your Signature Phrase.
- Immediately Delete
all Remembered Passwords clears all remembered Passwords for all
of your ZixSignatures when you click
(Closing ZixMail
also performs this function.)
Expiration Warning
- The Reminder for Expiration Notice allows you to choose between 6 months and 1 month to begin viewing the Key Regeneration Assistant. The Key Regeneration Assistant helps you to renew your existing encryption key before it is due to expire.

Note: When opening
a Certified ZixMail message, you must enter your Password, even if your
Preferences are set to remember your Password.
