Opening and Reading New Messages

ZixMail messages arrive as attachments in your regular email Inbox. You can read, save, reply to, forward and print them.

The body of the email message that contains the encrypted ZixMail attachment contains the following information:

The attached file is a ZixMail encrypted email message containing confidential information.

To open the encrypted message, double click the attachment, or if you have the Microsoft Outlook plug-in, click the Decrypt ZixMail button. For any questions about the content of this message, contact the sender.

To open and read a new message:

1. Select the message in your inbox, and then do one of the following:

• Click or double-click the ZixMail attachment, and then choose Open this file from its current location.
• Click Download File, and then Open it or Save to your computer.
• Follow the email program's usual procedure for opening attachments.  

2. Enter your Password (Signature Phrase) and click OK.
   The message is decrypted and displayed.
3. If the message has an attachment, you can open it or save it to your computer.
4. You can print the message.
